Ice Breaker Thaw Granules
Thawing Agent With Ice-Breaker Qualities
Ice Breaker Thaw Granules are for areas where safety is of prime importance. Effective removal of ice and snow even when temperatures are extremely low.
Ice Breaker Thaw Granules can be used at a temperature of -50 °C.
Ice Breaker Thaw Granules release heat during the melting and dissolving process, and this leads to a high melting speed. The granular de-icer penetrates into already existing and dangerous sheets of black ice and breaks the bond holding ice to the surface (undercutting effect).
Particularly at low temperatures, Ice Breaker Thaw Granules can be effectively used, especially in those temperature ranges where road salt (NaCl) stops working, or the required quantity increases very considerably.
If used as a preventive measure, Ice Breaker Thaw Granules have an effect for up to three days, depending on the weather conditions. The sticking of snow and ice to the pavement is reduced and snow can be removed from the treated surfaces. The formation of ice sheets and of a close covering of snow diminishes. Surfaces remain longer safe for vehicle and foot traffic.
Especially at low temperatures, Ice Breaker Thaw Granules can be dosed very sparingly, this due to the fact that their de-icing power is higher than the power of grit salt (NaCl) and that they release heat during the dissolving process – the product helps reduce the burden on the environment.
25 kilograms in the bucket are sufficient for approx. 800 - 5.000 m² cleared sidewalks or traffic areas.
Gentle On Materials
Most coated surfaces of synthetic material show good resistance against Ice Breaker Thaw Granules.
Conventional grit salt builds pH neutral to slightly acid aqueous solutions and can develop, in combination with acid rain, traces of hydrochloric acid or sulfurous acid. For this reason, conventional grit salt can cause corrosive effects on natural stones – particularly on types of stone with a percentage of limestone. Ice Breaker Thaw Granules compensate the corrosive action of acid rain because, once dissolved in water, they form an alkaline brine solution. No formation of acid traces and the associated corrosive effects are therefore to be expected.
What Should Be Considered?
When snow covers the ground, snow clearance should be carried out before using Ice Breaker Thaw Granules.
Due to the hygroscopic properties of Ice Breaker Thaw Granules, buckets, when opened, should always be kept tightly sealed to avoid clumping of the product.
A TIP From RAW To Act In Compliance With The Law
Please observe local rules for winter maintenance, wastewater and/or road cleaning operations when using agents for ice and snow clearing such as granular gritting materials and de-icing agents.
